Sources Reveal Democrats Are Just Disappointed Al Green Didn’t Stand Up and Say, “Let’s Stay Together” During 2025 Presidential Address to the Joint Session of Congress

Washington D.C. — As President Donald Trump delivered his highly anticipated 2025 Presidential Address to the Joint Session of Congress, many Americans were left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Not by the policy proposals, mind you, but by the conspicuous absence of Al Green’s classic words, “Let’s stay together.” Instead, he serenaded the room with a new tune, “You have no mandate!”

Sources close to the situation revealed that members of Congress and ordinary citizens alike were secretly hoping Green would stand up at some dramatic moment in the speech and belt out the iconic lyrics that have thrilled millions over the years, and might be the reason many of us were born.

“We were all waiting for it,” said one frustrated lawmaker who asked to remain anonymous. “I was hoping he’d stand up at the perfect time, maybe when the President was revving up his base with some divisive issue, and just drop that ‘Let’s stay together’ line. It would’ve been chef’s kiss.”

Despite the unfulfilled musical moment, there were reports that Green did contribute to the proceedings in his own unique way. Another source, who witnessed the moment firsthand, shared that Green “stood up proudly to the Capitol guards as they escorted him from the chamber.” The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the moment as “epic.”

“Listen,” they said, “he’s commendable for standing up proudly to those guards and saying, ‘Come and take me, here I am, baby!’ It was like a civil rights-era moment. Very ‘I’m every bit of the soul we need right now.’ He didn’t have to sing. He didn’t need to. His presence said everything.”

However, not everyone felt the same way. “I get that it was a powerful move, but this was the moment for ‘Let’s Stay Together,’” lamented one disappointed Democrat, who remained seated during Green’s protest moment. “What do we even stand for if we can’t get some soulful unity during a historic speech? It’s not like we asked him to sing at a funeral or anything. It was the perfect setup!” Then, the anonymous source looked down and said in a somber tone, “Unless it was a funeral. America’s funeral, perhaps?”

For now, it remains unclear whether Green’s historic moment of rebellion will overshadow the speech’s legislative implications. Either way, the Capitol may be divided on some issues, but one thing is certain: in 2025, Al Green’s silence (or, refusal to sing/shout the sweet song many expected from him) has become the new soundtrack for either political disappointment, political upheaval, or the spark of a revolution. It is uncertain if We The People will ever Stay Together, again.

With all that being said, it is important to allow Al Green to have the final “note” (pun intended). Responding to criticism from both sides of the isle for various and highly different reasons, Green stated, “I’m really not about divisiveness. I’m about love and happiness. Which is what ALL the American people deserve.”
