Washington D.C. — In an unexpected twist following his 2025 Presidential Address to a Joint Session of Congress, President Donald Trump reportedly dialed Russian President Vladimir Putin early the next morning to ask, “Did I do good?” According to sources inside the White House, Trump, still basking in the afterglow of his speech, felt the need for reassurance from his “friend” in Moscow.

“He just wanted to make sure he nailed it,” a White House aide said, speaking under the condition of anonymity. “After all, who better to give a thumbs-up than big bad Vlad?”

The phone call, which lasted approximately 47 minutes, was said to have covered topics ranging from nuclear disarmament to the future of “tremendous deals,” with Trump constantly pressing for Putin’s approval on his delivery, tone, and overall impact.

“Putin was reportedly very diplomatic about it,” said a Kremlin insider. “He praised the President for his strong presence, saying it was very much “Russian-inspired,” but also subtly suggested that he might want to ease up on the ‘tremendous’ references in future speeches. But Trump seemed happy enough.”

While the details of the conversation remain murky, some are claiming that Putin compared the event to the types of strategies Saddam Hussein would use to intimidate both his rivals and supporters. Trump seemed to be glowing at the mention of this, according to another insider.

It is widely believed that Putin gave his nod of approval with a simple, “You did good, Donald. Very good. You are Russia’s very special, orange and shiny, second sun.”

In related news, the White House has confirmed that Trump has now requested a private meeting with the heads of North Korea, Brazil, and “that guy who runs Turkey.”
