WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a stunning break from tradition, President Donald Trump’s 2025 Presidential Address to the Joint Session of Congress was transformed into an elaborate game show spectacle, leaving both lawmakers and viewers in equal parts confused and “entertained.”
As the president took the podium, instead of the usual sober tone, Trump greeted the crowd with a beaming smile and the words, “Welcome, everybody, to The State of the Union: The Game Show!” The address quickly devolved into what can only be described as a chaotic blend of political rhetoric and prize giveaways.

The first round involved members of Congress answering trivia questions about the state of the nation. “What year did we land on the moon?” Trump asked, much to the shock of the assembled lawmakers. “If you get it right, you get a brand-new toaster!” Several members scrambled for their buzzers, with Rep. Susan Walsh (R-TX) emerging victorious, correctly identifying 1969 and winning what appeared to be a toaster from a local Walmart.
Things escalated when the “Wheel of Policy” was introduced. The wheel, a giant spinning contraption on stage, featured policy options like “Tax Cuts for All!” and “National Ice Cream Day” but also some more unexpected entries, such as “Mandatory Hats for Everyone” and “Puppy Day.” When the wheel landed on “Puppy Day,” several confused staffers rushed onto the floor with a selection of tiny puppies, which Trump handed out to startled congresspeople.
“It’s an incredible day, folks, everyone loves puppies,” Trump said, gesturing to the dogs. “This is a winning strategy, believe me.”

One of the most offensive moments was the game “Pocahontas Time,” which was simply a pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with the face of Elizabeth Warren plastered on a piñata, mocking the senator.
However, not everyone left the evening with gifts. As the game show segment continued, certain members of Congress were escorted out by security after failing to correctly guess the answer to a question about Trump’s favorite TV show. “It’s The Apprentice, people! Come on!” he shouted as security escorted Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) off the premises.
The most dramatic moment came during the “Impeachment Challenge” round, where Trump invited lawmakers to participate in a live trivia game about the previous impeachments. For every wrong answer, one lucky participant got to take home a golden “I Survived Impeachment” mug. But when Sen. Mark Johnson (R-MN) couldn’t recall who served as the lead prosecutor in the 2020 impeachment trial, the stage lights dimmed dramatically, and he was almost escorted out while “The Price Is Right” losing horn played, but Trump quickly reversed course and said he was going to “pardon my buddy” with a “Get Out of Jail Free Card!” This caused a raucous round of applause from his supporters.

Trump danced behind the podium shouting, “Free Speech is back, baby!” All while several congressional representatives were physically removed for speaking out against Trump’s false claims and reality tv-style showmanship.
At the conclusion of the event, Trump announced, “The State of the Union is strong—especially for the wealthy and those who won prizes tonight. For everyone else, better luck next year. See you all at State of the Union: The Sequel!”

Despite the unconventional approach, early reviews of the address have been overwhelmingly positive from Trump’s fanbase. “Best speech ever,” said one viewer from Florida. “I got a blender and a free puppy. Who needs politics when you have prizes?”
Trump was boastful and expressed the belief America had never had a greater president and “probably never will again.” Some members were left wondering whether their participation in a game show was a sign of a new era in American politics, or just another bizarre chapter in Trump’s post-presidential life.

As made his way out, there were rumblings that Trump was reportedly preparing for a follow-up event, “The Presidential Roast: Who Wants to Be a Cabinet Secretary?” where contestants can win high-level government positions, and possibly a yacht.
